Students Use Engineering Concepts to Solve Real World Challenges

National Geographic worked with d’Vinci to create three educational games that inspire students to pursue careers in engineering. The Engineers in the Classroom program is funded by Lockheed Martin and facilitates real engineer visits to classrooms across the country. Each online activity contains multiple lessons and games that place students in the shoes of engineers, building robotic bees, redirecting asteroids and fighting forest fires. Further learning challenges allow for the application of engineering concepts to programming robots, flying space missions, and conducing a severe weather rescue. All three games were programmed using HTML5 and JavaScript to play seamlessly on modern desktop and tablet browsers without the need for app download or plug-in.
